We’ve moved…to… samphirearts.com

Pending transfer, redoing all the posts & pics etc, we’ll be having a new home! Apologies for not posting lately what with the fasting, and its festivities not to mention summer… (albeit a brief one), I’ve been caught up in it all… and moving sites, is not easy and you can’t post until it is all done…  I’m also trying out new themes and seeing which one sticks… If any one of you has seen any good ones out there without being too flowery and pink, give me a shout on the facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Samphire-Arts and at https://www.facebook.com/samphire.arts

Many thanks!

Sorry folks, been quite busy…

So it’s kinda a late wish for you all to have a wonderful day…

But I don’t believe in a day set aside to loving people in our lives.

I believe in everyday, making the best of those with us and those who accept us, love us and hold our trust above all else…

Living + Loving Everyday!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 1,300 times in 2011. If it were a cable car, it would take about 22 trips to carry that many people.

Firstly, A very warm Merry Christmas to all the customers, friends and family of Samphire Arts. without all of you all, where would I be? ( I’d have no one reading my ramblings… ;p )

I wish to thank you all for such a wonderful, crazy, busy and eye-opening learning curve of a year! Samphire has been busying itself in all types of new things to learn and make and getting to grips with Facebook & Community pages, advertising and creating a web presence…

Secondly, two / three big developments really, one, I might share with you later in the following year when I do more Craft Fairs (Country Living here we come!!whoop!whoop! Might have to drop the whole “whoop!whoop!” not very country like I guess?). This year has been slower than last but I guess I have had a lot on my plate especially with building the brand up on the web and getting our work out. Thanks to  platforms like Blomming.com (who provide such amazing service!), UK Handmade and the community word of mouth and fairs, we are trudging on… with a silent prayer on our lips and dreams in our hearts… (Corny!! I know, but sooo true! It’s been a very hard albeit fruitful journey to get here. I’m told I am being too hard as Samphire has really and truly not even been around for a year…hehe…what can I say, I’m impatient sometimes or at best of times, insufferable when I have an idea and get it into my head to achieve it… tehehe! ;p )

This year has been truly long in endurance and short in time! But I’ve been grateful for my network of friends / family who’ve guided, held my hand and been very understanding when I say “I can’t meet, I’m busy…”. We managed to get our work out and featured on e-magazines and even selected for Ipad covers (yup, I’m still chuffed about that! When you start out, you realise just how such small victories mean… so allow me, I’m milking it… till Kingdom come!! Tehehe!)

Ok, so…

News 1: We’ve invested in a press (YAY!!) so no more painful wrists, knees or smudged bottles and rolling pins (yup, that was me… Sorry Maria…) Now I need a name for Him, Coz’ I have a Victorian one we lovingly call Bertha! So I’m thinking Abe (short for Abraham?) Feel free to post suggestions for names on the Facebook page here>> http://www.facebook.com/pages/Samphire-Arts

News 2: Samphire will be taking part in the cultural Olympiad next year. Details to follow in the near future as we are working on themes, venue, food, music, exhibitions etc… It’s more than likely to be a 2-3 day event.

News 3: Ohhh… Well, I might tell you next year if all works out well… fingers crossed!

and at last, I wish a you all a Happy Xmas and an even better New Year!!

2012 here we come.....

Thank you to my wonderful family & friends who keep me going and those who following Samphire-Arts it is much appreciated and loved!

for all the love and support you continue to give

… and while I’m away, I’ll be…

This print was cut after I had a few thoughts about how I perceive my imagination and sometimes my defiance. How people all over the world face various atrocities in their respective country’s, homes and often by their own people etc. It made me think about how amazing the human mind, psychology or heart is. I started thinking about how we have imprisoned people who have stood up for their rights and the rights of others, how people just go missing or get in to trouble for speaking their mind and writing what they believe in (the likes of Ai Weiwei, Hu Jia, Nien Cheng, Aung San Suu Kyi, Parvin Ardalan among so many more!).

But what I find amazing is that you can imprison a person, torture them and hurt them in many ways than one but you cannot exactly hold their minds captive or at least, not for long. In fact, I believe you cannot (fully) restrict their mind and will (unless they let you?). I truly believe our abilities in terms of our imagination, our mind can wander and still be free even when you keep our bodies captive.

We may be restricted by our social, religious or political constraints, but we are and never will be truly imprisoned. And as long as people believe and exercise their right to imagine, create and build, keep alive memories and works of those who struggled and lost their lives and those who are still under some sort of oppression, they will continue to live on in our hearts and mind. No wonder we are declared dead only after the brain gives in…

So, you can lock us up wherever you may seem fit but only we can truly imprison ourselves…

Thank you for looking!
